In 1926, Shastriji became a Regular Member of ‘Lok Sevak Mandal’ founded by Punjab Kesri Lala Lajpat Rai, who died same year due to the brutality of British. Shastriji shifted to Meerut and started serving downtrodden sections of the society including Harijans from 'Kumar Ashram'. He was receiving Rs.60/- as monthly allowances from Lok Sevak Samaj.
